🎵 5pm Kirtan: Chanting Through The Lunar Month
🎵 5pm Kirtan: Chanting Through The Lunar Month
03/08/2024 (3 weeks ago)
5:00 pm - 5:50 pm
Fridays starting March 8th at 5pm (intro on Feb 23rd)
Sign up now for this Pop-Up course from Bagaduce Music. This is a deep dive into learning Kirtan chants for the next four weeks with Shepsi Eaton at the helm, learning how to be open through music and emphasizing the "unity" in "community".
Kirtan chanting is a sacred practice in Indian culture that serves to free your spirit and bring inner peace through music. Kirtan in Sanskrit means “Narrating” or “Describing”. The mantras are sung in Sanskrit and are usually in the form of a call-and-response, with a leader singing a phrase and the audience singing it back. It doesn’t matter your vocal strength or abilities, the point is to sing from the heart. Instruments such as the harmonium, tablas, flute, and various string and percussion instruments are used as accompaniment. Shepsi will bring a Harmonium and Tambura to the event, accompanied by special guests on violin and guitar.
There is an introductory open Kirtan Session on Friday, February 23rd at 5pm. The course will meet on Fridays in March; March 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th from 5-6pm here at The Gatherings.
The introduction class is by donation for $15-35 each (a sliding scale), sign up at bagaducemusic.org (prices for this Friday's session will differ from March's sessions.) For more info contact Lydia Reifsnyder at library@bagaducemusic.org or call 207-374-5454

🔥 6.45pm Shamanic Kundalini Fusion
🔥 6.45pm Shamanic Kundalini Fusion
03/08/2024 (3 weeks ago)
6:45 pm - 8:00 pm
Every 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Friday
This is a physical practice that prepares us for meditation. A typical class involves breathwork, Sanskrit mantras (repeating exotic words out loud), physical poses and relaxation. I channel my heart-centered energy to bring you closer to your inner knowing. My method of teaching is by awakening love. Think of me as a Love Alchemist! By the end of the night you’ll feel more uplifted and confident. What a great way to start the weekend!
I started taking yoga to be more comfortable in my body. I continued as a student because it helped me notice my thoughts. It is an honor to be of service to you and let my compassionate animal and spirit guides work through me to bring you closer to your own inner teacher. I enjoy working with my shamanic guides because I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders and it is awesome not to have to do all the heavy lifting alone.
Please bring a mat, strap, block, towel, bolster, blanket, water, journal, pencil and an open mind. Class cost is $13. Or just come and pay what you can! All levels are welcome.

🎵 5pm Kirtan: Chanting Through The Lunar Month
🎵 5pm Kirtan: Chanting Through The Lunar Month
03/15/2024 (2 weeks ago)

03/15/2024 (2 weeks ago)
6:45 pm - 8:00 pm
Every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Friday

💪 5.30pm Gentle Yoga, Ball Rolling and Mindful Self-Compassion & NeuroMuscular Balancing Class
💪 5.30pm Gentle Yoga, Ball Rolling and Mindful Self-Compassion & NeuroMuscular Balancing Class
03/18/2024 (2 weeks ago)
5:30 pm - 6:45 pm
*this class is instead of our regular Monday yoga this week*
Josh and Kalindi will co-teach this class here at the Gatherings in Surry. Josh will share how to release muscles in minutes regardless of how long they have been tight! Since muscles pull on bones, identify short and tight vs. long and tight muscles and experience this gentle yoga class to help lengthen the short muscles and shorten the long muscles to bring the body toward balance. Release, stretch and strengthen key muscles. Some people are overstretching muscles that are already too long and over strengthening muscles that are already too short! Learn common imbalances that most people have to varying degrees and how to simply address them. This approach makes common sense, yet is not currently common knowledge. Kalindi is a leader in mindful self-compassion and will share some guided exercises and lead the group through restorative poses and a ball rolling massage routine. Kalindi makes the ball rollers and you will get to take one home with you for free if you'd like!
$2/person goes to The Gatherings community center. Register: email Josh@NeuroMuscularBalancing.com to sign-up (limited space) and to receieve Josh's complimentary E-Manual. Learn more about it at NeuroMuscularBalancing.com

🎵 1pm Kirtan
🎵 1pm Kirtan
03/23/2024 (6 days ago)
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Every 4th Saturday Please join us on the fourth Saturday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for community kirtan led by Joe Bruno. Mantra music comes in many forms, including kirtan, an ancient Indian practice of call and response chanting. Chanting has been practiced for thousands of years by diverse cultures and continues to undergo a renaissance in the west. More than just music, kirtan is a contemplative spiritual practice in the vein of meditation and yoga. It offers a pathway to quieting the mind while promoting peace, healing, community building and conscious living. As a lifelong musician, multi instrumentalist and vinyasa yoga teacher, Joe's call and response kirtans are joyous, light-hearted and celebratory. He previously established and led a weekly Ecstatic Community Kirtan in Sarasota, FL where the group raised thousands of dollars in donations to local food banks and charities serving the developmentally disabled. This event shall be by donation ($2 suggested for those who can afford to donate) with all proceeds going to The Gatherings. Thanks and we hope to see you at our first kirtan on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 pm. Should you have any questions or need for additional information please feel free to email Joe Bruno at jbruno56@gmail.com.

03/29/2024 (9 hours from now)
6:45 pm - 8:00 pm
Every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Friday
