Florence Reed, Fundraising Coordinator
Also the Founder of Sustainable Harvest International and Mandela, Flo has been involved with international development work since graduating from the University of New Hampshire and joining the Peace Corps in the early nineties. She moved to Newbury Neck Rd. in Surry in 2004, where she still lives with her adult son in a house built by family and friends using mostly local materials and mostly renewable energy. The family compound has continued to expand over the years and now includes a round Deltec home for another family member, a Lucerne-inspired covered bridge connecting the two homes, a tiny house for Airbnb rentals and several other houses for year-round rental to friends.

William Matlock, Treasurer
Bill was born, raised and educated in Colorado. After college he went to work for AT&T in the Product Management and Product Development area. This was in both the domestic and international organizations. He retired in 2004 and moved to Surry. In 2010 Bill was elected to the position of Selectmen for the town and held that position until 2021. I joined the Board of the Gatherings in 2022.

Dave Hollenburg, Secretary
Following completion of a graduate degree in chemistry at UMO, Dave spent 30 years in the paper industry working for a number of paper companies, mostly in Wisconsin. He retired in 2003 and moved back to Maine in 2008. Dave has three children and six grandchildren.

Peter Hile, Vice Chair
Peter leads the Peninsula Area Men’s Group at The Gatherings. Peter is also a certified yoga instructor, receiving his 200-hour yoga certificate from The Portland Yoga Project in 2024. He is a dedicated student of Ram Dass and a bhakti yogi. The tenets of “Love, Serve, Remember” inspire his service to the greater good. Peter is passionate about providing safe and inclusive spaces for those who don’t always fit in the mainstream boxes of cultural normativity. Always learning, his approach to life and yoga invites curiosity about possibilities instead of assumptions about how things are.

Elizabeth Jezorski, Board Member
Liz received a B.A in Transpersonal Psycology from Prescott College, as well as an M.A from Lesley University in Dance Movement Therapy. Liz helps her clients move past limited self-concepts and into heart-awakened wholeness. She currently offers nonclinical spiritual counseling, Tarot Readings, Astrology Readings and healing sessions and retreats for individuals, couples, and groups. Lena Ramsay, Board Member
Lena has a degree in Psychology and worked as a master level addiction counselor in Colorado. After serving in the Army in Afghanistan, she began learning mycology and a whole health approach to mitigating her mental and physical injuries. She has told her story on many platforms throughout the US to Veterans and many other to offer hope and alternative whole health options. Lena offers mushroom foraging walks, identification, medicinal benefits, and more. An organizer of the Maine Fungi Festival, and other events, Lena is passionate about spreading awareness in her communities.

STAFF MEMBERS
Clarisa Diaz, Program Coordinator & Caretaker
Clarisa Diaz is a transdisciplinary designer and writer. She received an MFA from Parsons School of Design and worked in NYC for over a decade in publishing and journalism. This included designing, writing, and coordinating projects at Penguin Random House, WNYC-New York Public Radio, and the global business publication Quartz. She also worked extensively abroad in South America and Asia as a Fulbright Scholar, designer, and instructor. She is the Creative Director of Meadowlark, a design studio collaborating with artists, community organizations, and small businesses.

Justin Mejia, Caretaker
Justin is a NYC native with experience in hospitality, customer service, and management. His intangible skills make him a valued asset in working with others, improving spaces, and making The Gatherings a welcoming place for all.
