Every 1st Friday
This popular monthly community potluck has returned to The Gatherings, every First Friday of the month at 6pm. Bring a dish or drink to share while spending time with your neighbors, make new friends, catch up with old ones, and fill up on a variety of home cooked dishes. We look forward to seeing you and trying out some of your favorite recipes! Donations to the community center are welcome.

Every Saturday at 9am
If regular yoga classes are a bit out of your price range, you have trouble finding the motivation to practice alone, or you have been curious to try out yoga for the first time, Community Yoga is for you! These casual classes happen in person every Saturday morning at 9am. The class is usually a more relaxing Yin Yoga.

Classes are in-person and streamed online through glo.com, which features dozens of different teachers and yoga styles!

After class, for those who want to, there will be time to ask questions about poses, help each other out, or share tips and stretches we've been enjoying.

These classes are very casual and are open to all ages and abilities (beginners welcome). There are mats, blocks and straps available, no special clothes are required (comfy recommended) and there is a separate unattended playroom for children if needed, but kids who can focus on the class are welcome to stretch with us too!

Shape note singing is a system originally devised to teach sight-reading and singing in harmony to folks with no musical background. From its beginnings in colonial America, it now has an international following. Non-performance singing, in four parts, for the joy of the activity alone is a beautiful example of community-based art. No experience or talent is required. We sing for one another; everyone is welcome.Our afternoon of Shape-note singing would include a brief history and description of the music and then simply singing from The Sacred Harp, the tune book most commonly used for this. We will bring loaner books.

Artists, age 18+, of any skill level are encouraged to attend, and may use any media. These 2-hour uninstructed sessions are every Wednesday, 10-Noon. Bring a mask. Cost is $17.
We are always looking for new models. Experience is not necessary, but models are expected to hold a pose for up to 20 minutes. All shapes, ages and sizes are welcome. Models are paid $60 per class.

Are you interested in building a sacred community with us through singing Earth-based and women-affirming songs and chants? If that is a YES, then here's the info you want. We meet every Wednesday evening at The Gatherings community space in Surry to sing familiar and new songs around a nature based altar from 7-8:30 p.m. Young women and girls are encouraged to join us, too, as long as they are old enough to be present in the circle.

We enjoy a scent-free and peaceful environment built on trust, kindness, and respect for ourselves, one another, and the Earth. You are welcome to join us regardless of your experience with singing for we believe everyone's voice matters and adds value!

Healthy Peninsula’s Magic Food Bus is a seasonal traveling farm stand and mobile library that delivers free, fresh, local produce, books, and information about food security resources every week to every town on the Blue Hill Peninsula, Deer Isle, and Stonington. The Magic Food Bus rolls from late June through the end of September and is free to everyone!

Staffed primarily by volunteers, the Magic Food Bus has grown over the years in size, reach, and complementary activities. Originally conceived as a book mobile, the metaphorical ‘bus’ (really a cadre of volunteer vehicles), now serves up thousands of pounds of free, fresh vegetables to hundreds of people every growing season. While fresh produce is the main course, books remain on the menu—the Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library, as well as other community donors, offer free, interesting, fun, and informative summer reading material to Bus patrons of all ages.

In Surry, the Magic Food Bus will be at The Gatherings at 2:30 every Thursday, from June 26 to the end of August, and at the Surry Elementary School for the month of September.

A for-fun ukulele get-together! Using the big screen to pull up songs, we'll sing and strum some tunes. This will not be a "class", but ukes are easy to play together at different skill levels, so beginners are definitely welcome.
